Dangbei Mars launches as an "ultra-bright" FHD projector with "native" Netflix support
Dangbei asserts that its new DLP projector is one for those for whom evenings are for Netflix binges, as the device has "native" support for this app. That statement seems to translate to a "licensed" pre-install for this app that responds to a branded button on the Mars' remote control (alongside those for Prime Video and YouTube), much like many smart TVs these days.
The UI designed to support these features is Linux-based for potentially improved user-friendliness and minimalism. The new non-Pro Mars swaps the 4K spec of its flagship sibling for an FHD image of up to 180 inches with HLG and HDR10 support.
The projector has rear-facing USB ports as well as dual HDMI outputs; however, none of those are type-C. There is an S/PDIF for external audio, though, alongside an RJ45 jack for LAN purposes. Dangbei intimates that the Mars is also a projector for any handy wall-facing media-room surface, with the CMOS and ToF sensors necessary for auto-focus and auto-keystone features.
The Mars drops its series' top-end 3,200 ANSI lumen brightness rating for one of 2,100 ISO lumens instead; nevertheless, Dangbei touts it as "remarkable" for its price-tier. On that note, the new Mars should be available via Amazon soon at a starting price of US$999.99...although its OEM has hinted at the possibility of an early-bird US$100 off coupon on its imminent release.
