Xiaomi has finally unveiled the Redmi G, its latest gaming laptop. Today's release follows multiple teasers, on which we have previously reported. Xiaomi has indeed gone with a nosecam for the Redmi G, which sits below a 16.1-inch IPS panel. The display has a 16:9 aspect ratio and operates at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The display apparently peaks at 300 nits and covers 100% of the sRGB colour space.
The Redmi G is available in three SKUs, although only the top two models come with a 144 Hz panel and a GTX 1650 Ti GPU. If you opt for the entry-level model, then you must make do with a 60 Hz panel and the lesser GTX 1650. Xiaomi also equips this version with a Core i5-10200H processor, but it offers the Core i5-10300H and Core i7-10750H with the GTX 1650 Ti. All versions are cooled by dual heatpipes and fans. The prices of the three configurations are as follows:
- Core i5-10200H/GTX 1650 - CNY 4,999 (~US$720)
- Core i5-10300H/GTX 1650 Ti - CNY 5,799 (~US$835)
- Core i7-10750H/GTX 1650 Ti - CNY 6,599 (~US$950)
All models come with 16 GB of DDR4-2993 dual-channel RAM and a 512 GB PCIe x4 NVMe SSD. The device weighs around 2.5 kg and measures 373.44 x 264.47 x 24.35 mm at its thickest point. Xiaomi has included a large trackpad, a backlit keyboard and what should be enough ports for most gamers. The device is also powered by a 55 Wh battery, which is rated for up to 5:30 hours battery life. It is unclear if Xiaomi will sell the Redmi G outside of China. However, third-party retailers should even if Xiaomi decides not to do so.
