Update: The Redmi G (2021) will feature an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H.
-----------------------------------
A few days ago, Redmi officially announced the imminent launch of its second-gen affordable gaming laptop, the Redmi G (2021). While no details were provided then, the company has now revealed some of the hardware that will underpin the laptop.
On Weibo a few hours ago, Redmi confirmed that the Redmi G (2021) will be powered by an Nvidia + AMD combo. The gaming laptop will use NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3060 as its GPU, with an AMD Ryzen 5000 series on the CPU side. It's unknown what CPU exactly that will be, but a Ryzen 5 5500U would be a good bet. Promising hardware, in any case.
This would be an upgrade on the Core i5-10200H and GTX 1650 on the original Redmi G and shows Redmi's willingness to compete in the segment. Other details are yet to be revealed but Redmi is heavily marketing the Redmi G (2021) as a high-performance, sleek gaming laptop. As revealed previously, a launch event is scheduled for September 22 in China.
