MIUI 12 could start arriving on third-batch Xiaomi smartphones like the Redmi Note 8 and Mi Mix 2 in October

Xiaomi now seems to be moving through the second batch of smartphones to receive the vaunted MIUI 12 stable update, with devices receiving the China ROM throughout August and September. If everything goes to plan and there are no major hindrances in regard to bugs, then the third batch of Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones could start receiving the MIUI 12 update in October.

Xiaomi and Redmi devices that make up the third batch are as follows:

• Xiaomi Mi Mix 2
• Xiaomi Mi 6X
• Redmi 8, Redmi 8A
• Redmi 7, Redmi 7A
• Xiaomi Mi CC9E
• Xiaomi Mi Note 3
• Xiaomi Mi Max 3
• Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, Mi 8 Youth Edition
• Redmi S2
• Redmi Note 8
• Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 Pro
• Redmi Note 5

Once this third phase of Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones has received the MIUI 12 update in China then the global, Indian, and European variants of the devices should also start receiving their relevant region ROMs within a few weeks afterwards.

That will leave just the fourth wave of smartphones on the Xiaomi roadmap to receive the latest Android 10-based skin from the Chinese OEM before it's time to start pushing out Android 11-based MIUI 13 to supported devices.
