Xiaomi has unveiled MIUI 12 for India. Announced in a livestream, the company has confirmed that it will start by upgrading 7 devices to its latest OS in the country. It seems to have forgotten that it began rolling out MIUI 12 to handsets in India months ago, though.

Xiaomi has formally announced MIUI 12 in India. The company already has a well-established Indian branch of MIUI, so it is unclear what it is new about today's announcement. Additionally, Xiaomi has upgraded multiple devices to MIUI 12 in the country, so today's announcement is almost just a recognition of that.

Announced on a livestream, Xiaomi is yet to announce the full release schedule for MIUI 12 in India. However, it has confirmed that the following devices will be upgraded first:

  • Mi 10
  • Redmi Note 7
  • Redmi Note 7 Pro
  • Redmi Note 8
  • Redmi Note 8 Pro
  • Redmi Note 9
  • Redmi Note 9 Pro

Most of the devices have already received MIUI 12 in some form, even if it is just a Mi Pilot program build. Xiaomi has stated that it will share more details about its MIUI 12 release schedule for MIUI 12 on its social media channels. This includes the Twitter account of Manu Kumar Jain, the Global VP of Xiaomi and MD of Xiaomi India.
