The MIUI 12 rollout is steaming ahead, with devices listed in the second batch of Xiaomi’s software update roadmap receiving the Android overlay. We already reported on when the update would start being pushed out for these smartphones, and now a Xiaomi representative has offered the news that the rollout for the second-batch smartphones should be completed by the end of September.
Xiaomi and Redmi devices that make up the second batch include:
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S
- Xiaomi Mi CC9, Mi CC9 Pro, Mi CC9 Meitu Edition
- Xiaomi Mi 9 SE
- Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 UD, Mi 8 Explorer Edition
- Redmi Note 8 Pro
- Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro
- Redmi 10X 5G, Redmi 10X Pro 5G, Redmi 10X 4G
The announcement refers to second-batch smartphones receiving the MIUI 12 stable update for China, which means that the rollout for the global and Indian variants should be completed by either October or November. Owners of the above listed Xiaomi and Redmi devices outside of China may have already started receiving the custom Android skin.
No specific timeframe is given for the third batch of smartphones, which includes fan favorites such as the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi 7; however, it seems likely that those devices will start having MIUI 12 pushed out to them shortly after the second-batch rollout is completed, so by the end of September or beginning of October. Obviously, it will be smartphones utilizing the China ROM that will be served first.
