After sending out the global stable MIUI 12 update to the Redmi Note 9 last week, Xiaomi is rolling out a new update to the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Sadly, it doesn't bring the much-awaited MIUI 12, and owners of the mid-range phone will have to wait a while longer.

For some reason, Xiaomi is prioritizing the Redmi Note 9 over the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Last week, the Redmi Note 9 finally received the global stable beta MIUI 12 update, but its more expensive sibling remains on MIUI 12, and the latest update doesn't change that.

The new update for the Redmi Note 9 Pro bears the build number "v11.0.5.0.QJZMIXM", denoting that it's a MIUI 11 update for the global variant of the phone. This is, in fact, the global beta stable update, and should be parsing randomly prior to a full rollout. The update brings the July security patch, and weighs in at 212 MB. Like with the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 9, however, owners will have to use a VPN to download the OTA.

Seeing as the Redmi Note 9 already received the MIUI 12 update, the Redmi Note 9 Pro shouldn't be far behind. It's important to point out that the Redmi Note 9 Pro wasn't launched in China, though, and that may affect the speed with which it gets updates. There's been little news as to Xiaomi's work on MIUI 12 for the Redmi Note 9 Pro, but that should change in the coming weeks.

We'll be sure to keep you updated.
