The Redmi Note 9 smartphone is coming to India, but allegedly in a different form to the global version of the phone that was released a few months ago. While users in other parts of the world were able to get to grips with either a 3 GB or 4 GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 9, it appears the “undisputed champion” is going to come in the form of a hefty 6 GB top-end model just for the Indian market.
The Redmi Note 9 rumor, which was originally reported by Gizmochina, also states that the base model of the latest Xiaomi smartphone for India will not be the 3 GB RAM model. Therefore, customers will be able to choose from the 4 GB smartphone as the entry-level model or plump for a powerful 6 GB version. It’s not known if the storage amount will also differ from the global devices, which offer 64 GB or 128 GB options.
Releasing a 6 GB model of a smartphone that has been promoted as the “undisputed champion” would certainly be a savvy business move by Xiaomi, as it would help the Redmi Note 9 stick out from the crowded premium midrange smartphone market. As for the price, the higher-specced Redmi Note 9 Pro currently costs ₹13,999 (US$187) so there is some expectation that the Redmi Note 9 will come in at a much lower price, possibly around the ₹10,000 mark (US$133).
