The POCO M2 Pro has been slated as a new mid-range phone headed to India for some time now. Its latest leaks suggest that it will have the same specs and looks as the Redmi Note 9 Pro, which has been around for a couple of months, however. Now, the recently-minted mobile-device brand, in partnership with its retail partner Flipkart, may have all but confirmed this.
This online sales giant now has a micro-site for the upcoming device, where it is being hyped with the spec of 33W charging. This is also true of the Note 9 Pro. This page also contains a video hinting at a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a Qualcomm processor: also facets of the Redmi phone.
The Twitter account @POCOForIndia has recently posted a teaser for the M2 Pro, confirming its launch date while dropping a short animation hinting at a device with quad rear cameras in a square conformation on its back above a central flash. Therefore, its SoC could be the Snapdragon 720G, while the main sensor here is most likely 48MP in resolution.
However, the cameras in this case look a little different to those of the the Note 9 Pro; the M2 Pro seems to lack the black housing that also engulfs the former's flash, thus making it look more than a bit like a high-end stove-top.
Therefore, there just may be scope for a different backing, at least, in this impending new POCO-phone. This potential for a new look may be confirmed or denied on July 7, 2020 at its debut, which takes place at 12:00 Indian Standard Time (IST, or 8:00 Central European Time (CET)).
