Updated | Redmi Note 8 Pro Special Edition smartphone to be released with a fresh coat of paint for the global market
Update August 10: Xiaomi has revealed that the new color for the Redmi Note 8 Pro Special Edition is Coral Orange (see promo images below).
Original story:
A new special edition of the Redmi Note 8 Pro has been revealed, with the official Twitter account for Xiaomi stating that the smartphone is “about to join” the already existing Redmi Note 8 lineup. The device has been teased in a promo image (see below), with the OEM encouraging followers to guess what color the Redmi Note 8 Pro Special Edition will come in. There is a hint - “Xiaomi” – which would lead to the reasoning that the smartphone will feature orange tones at least.
It’s possible this global Redmi Note 8 Pro Special Edition is actually the same device as the Twilight Orange variant of the phone that was revealed by Xiaomi in January for the Chinese market. As the device in the promo image looks to be red, it can be guessed that the special model of the Redmi Note 8 Pro will come in that color but with subtle shades of orange to reflect the background color of the famous “Mi” logo.
As for specs, along with the MediaTek Helio G90T SoC, it seems likely the Redmi Note 8 Pro Special Edition could come in two configurations in regard to RAM and storage: 6 GB + 128 GB and 8 GB + 128 GB. This would be identical to what Xiaomi offered with the Twilight Orange Redmi Note 8 Pro back in January, although of course it’s possible the OEM might shake things up for a global Special Edition model and offer some additional upgrades beyond the striking color scheme.
