Two commentators have been claiming that Sony will hold a PS5-related event in the upcoming weeks, although both have played it a bit safe by giving somewhat ambiguous timeframes. Considering the sources, a healthy pinch of salt is required here, as both have made incorrect posts about the PS5 in the past. However, it is interesting to see that they have agreed that Sony will finally deliver an incredible PS5 event either in late August or early September.
August 20 has recently started to become popular on social media as a possible date for the PS5 show, and this would fit in with Tidux’s guess of “late August”. However, fellow social media commentator Roberto Serrano, who is still feeling some heat for the PS5 pre-order date snafu, has been a bit more cryptic. Although he recently posted a photoshopped image (see below) that declares August 20 as the all-important date, he also linked Earth, Wind, & Fire’s smash-hit song “September” within the same post. The more-reliable Jeff Grubb has commented that August is “going to be kind of an Xbox month”, so PlayStation fans may be in for a longer wait.
But if the PS5 event involves the supposed details that Tidux is claiming, then it will be definitely worth the wait. According to this particular opinionator, the incredible show will feature a teardown of the console, more information about backwards compatibility, details about exclusives, the official release date, and even the PlayStation 5 price. There is some weight behind this amazing claim, as Sony would likely prefer to wait for Microsoft to reveal all first with the Xbox Series X (and Series S?), which could happen at the expected August Xboxing Day event. It is plausible that Sony is preparing a phenomenal show for the PS5 in September.
