Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro returns for 2021 with teaser image only revealing form over function
Xiaomi has teased a refresh of the Mi Notebook Pro laptop range, but in a case of form over function, only a small part of the computer’s design has been revealed. Reviews for Core i5 and i7 variants of the 2017 Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro praised the look of the laptops but also pointed out some issues with the CPU and GPU performances. Hopefully this time around Xiaomi will have focused as much on the interior as the exterior.
Unfortunately, apart from a glimpse at the rear of the Mi Notebook Pro (2021), which seems to be a deep blue color with the “Xiaomi” name front and center, there’s nothing to be taken away from the teaser in terms of specs. However, it’s expected that the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro will borrow from the already released RedmiBook Pro laptops at least in terms of function, leaving the “inspiration” for form to likely come from whatever Apple has produced recently.
It is reasonable to speculate that the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro (2021) devices will likely be configured with chips from Intel’s Tiger Lake series and may even possibly feature choices from AMD’s Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 range. As for GPU, there have been some murmurings that the refreshed Mi Notebook Pro might come with an SKU from Nvidia’s GeForce MX lineup, such as the MX450. Display specs around 3.2K resolution, 16:10 format, and 90 Hz refresh rate or better can probably be expected, with 16 GB/32 GB RAM options also likely being available.
