Xiaomi makes a Bluetooth speaker that is also a wireless charger
The electronics OEM Xiaomi has cleared a new speaker with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). It is, therefore, a device with version 5.0 of this wireless standard included. That in itself is not unusual for this company, which already has a broad portfolio of portable or wearable devices along these lines. However, it seems this new one also incorporates wireless charging.
The resulting "Mi Wireless Charger Bluetooth Speaker" is a good idea, as it is one that combines 2 increasingly high-demand functions among mobile-device users into 1 product. Some may hope that it might be compatible with Xiaomi's Mi Charge Turbo rapid wireless-charging standard, which is found in the Mi 9 Pro.
However, these expectations may be dashed: its Bluetooth SIG certificate states that it "can provide wireless charging function conforming to some Qi standard mobile phones", but says no more on the subject.
Those interested in even more personal audio may also like to know Xiaomi has a new pair of wireless headphones in the works. Going by the product name given in this additional Bluetooth SIG document (Mi Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones), this new generation is directed at environmental isolation for enhanced sound rather than bass as before.
