Xiaomi's CEO, Lu Weibing, took to Weibo to record his reaction to an event in which the OEM opened 100 new physical Chinese stores. This achievement, which the executive apparently described as "too hot", also apparently drew flocks of consumers interested in the OEM's latest smartphone, the Redmi K30 5G.
This brand may be perceived by many as one that is bought or read about online. However, it is also known for its own real-world stores, stocking a range of its devices that include its smartphones, wireless gadgets and other electronics, in some regions where it has gained prominence, its native China included. In fact, it even operates vending machines for the same in India.
It has been a good year for Xiaomi on a more global basis, too: its Redmi 7A gained a spot in the top 10 phones sold in 2019; it launched its first Wear OS smartwatch, as well as a world-first 108MP camera phone. Therefore, a report in which it managed 100 new shops on the same day may not be so surprising.
