Vivo touts the V40 Pro sold through Amazon in countries such as India as its "Zeiss Portrait Master" for as little as INR 46,990 (~$556) today (November 17, 2024) as it packs a total of 4 50MP cameras: the sensors behind its triple rear lenses plus the selfie shooter.
Now, the same can be said for its successor, according to the typically accurate leaker Digital Chat Station. It will have the same Sony IMX921 main rear camera as the V40 Pro, although its telephoto shooter is tipped to upgrade to a 3X zoom periscope lens based on the IMX882 (like that of the Realme 13 Pro).
The "V50 Pro" (appearing in this leak as the S20 Pro, which is how it might be known on the Chinese market) is also now said to retain the ultrawide-angle camera of its predecessor. It is also backed to upgrade to a 6.67-inch 1.5K display that finally ditches the uneven curves of the S19/V40 series, driven by the last-gen yet still powerful Dimensity 9300+ display.
On the other hand, the allegedly upcoming smartphone is also said to stick with a 5,500mAh battery. That spec might help the S series stay as slim as Vivo would apparently prefer, yet might put its latest flagship at risk of being overtaken by competitors with class-leading capacities as a selling point.
