Aura Light-enhanced mobile photography is to be reprised in the upcoming S20 series - in fact, it is already apparent that the series' signature ring-flash is enlarged in this generation.
It still fits into the bottom half of camera humps not unlike those of the S19 and S19 Pro, with the cleanest version thus far going to the S20, albeit by virtue of having only 2 lenses on the back compared to 3 in its predecessor.
By contrast, the Q10 OLED-equipped S20 Pro's look is disrupted a little with a third camera cut-out off to one side. Then again, its fans might not mind as it almost certainly houses the upgraded periscope zoom lens of recent rumors.
The S20 compensates somewhat with its intricately-patterned new Gold Phoenix Feather rear glass panel, paired with a shiny flat frame of the same color.
Despite its depth - or lack thereof, rather, at 7.19mm according to Vivo - the vanilla model is now officially hyped to introduce a new, extra-large "semi-solid-state" battery to its series. The Pro, however, seems largely unchanged compared to its predecessor (also available internationally as the V40 Pro) in this respect.
All of these details are apparent in the series' first official round of promos. Released through Weibo by Vivo executive Jia Jingdong, they hype the smartphones as mobile portrait photography powerhouses that ditch outmoded image-processing trends such as skin-smoothing in favor of capturing "natural beauty".
The S20 and S20 Pro are also now linked to Olympic gold-winning tennis star Qinwen Zheng as a spokesperson, although their launch date for the Chinese market has yet to be revealed. They are still thought to debut as the V50 and V50 Pro on their global release thereafter, however.
