New Oppo Find X8 Ultra rumours reveal camera upgrades over Find X7 Ultra
Oppo has just released the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro globally. Similarly, OnePlus is expected to replace the OnePlus 12 (curr. $649.99 on Amazon) soon outside China with the newer OnePlus 13. While the pair have plenty of new flagships on the table for consumers, leakers have now turned their attention to what could be coming over the hill from Oppo.
Specifically, rumours continue to swirl about the state of the Find X8 Ultra and how it could surpass not just the Find X8 Pro but also the Find X7 Ultra. For context, the latter debuted less than a year ago, albeit not globally. As such, the Find X8 Ultra is not anticipated to become official until spring 2025.
Nonetheless, Oppo is still expected to deliver major camera improvements between generations. Allegedly, the Find X8 Ultra contains two new telephoto sensors, as well as a revised ultra-wide-angle set-up. According to the likes of @ISAQUES81, Oppo will equip the Find X8 Ultra with the following rear-facing cameras:
- Primary: Sony LYT 900, 50 MP, 1-inch type optical format
- Ultra-wide-angle: Sony IMX 882, 50 MP, 1/1.95-inch optical format
- Telephoto 1: Sony LYT 701, 50 MP, 1/1.56-inch optical format, 75 mm equivalent focal length
- Telephoto 2: Sony IMX 882, 50 MP, 1/1.95-inch optical format, 150 mm equivalent focal length
As a result, the Find X8 Ultra is reputed to deliver roughly 10% image performance across its primary and ultra-wide-angle cameras. Reportedly, the Find X8 Ultra will provide better image quality with its 3x and 7x lenses too, albeit with the trade-off of slightly worse macro capabilities. Unfortunately, other details about the Find X8 Ultra remain unknown for now.
