Dell's Inspiron 16 7640 2-in-1 mini-LED laptop is currently available for a $500 discount at Best Buy. For fans of convertibles, the device should be able to handle just about every conceivable usage scenario apart from graphically intensive applications. The bright 2.5K mini-LED touchscreen also positions the laptop as a high-end multimedia player with a 2-in-1 form factor and active stylus, but potential buyers should also note that this comes at the cost of higher power consumption.
Regarding internal hardware, the convertible is equipped with an Intel Ultra 7 155H CPU, integrated Arc 8 graphics and 32 GB of LPDDR5 6400 RAM. As previously stated, this is more than adequate for all but the most graphically demanding applications. Alternatively, potential buyers can opt for 16 GB of RAM for a $450 discount at $699.99. In both cases, buyers also have the possibility of purchasing "Open Box" units, which are even cheaper.
However, the model does get quite loud under load, as revealed in our detailed review. Battery life is also not the best, with the 90 Wh battery lasting anywhere between 11 to just under 2 hours depending on the usage scenario. Another aspect to consider is the laptop's weight, which at 4.66 pounds is not exactly the lightest travel companion in its class. But larger dimensions usually mean a decent range of ports: the Dell Inspiron 16 7640 comes with an SD card reader, a 3.5 mm audio jack port, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB-C + Thunderbolt 4 ports w/ Power Delivery and a HDMI 1.4 port.
