TUF Gaming is Asus's affordable gaming brand, and the TUF Gaming laptops don't generally disappoint, offering plenty of bang for the buck without feeling too cheap or looking overly garish. The Asus TUF A16 is no different, delivering features like a 165 Hz display and performance on-par with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060. For Black Friday, Best Buy has slashed the price of the already-affordable gaming laptop even more, bringing it down to just $699.99.
Without the Best Buy discount, the Asus TUF Gaming A16 retails for $1,099.99, but the budget 1080p gaming laptop doesn't skimp on performance or features.
In our review of the Asus TUF Gaming A16 — albeit a slightly different hardware configuration — we found the CPU was capable of keeping up with the likes of the AMD Ryzen 9 6800HX, which was powering top-dog gaming laptops just the other day. Meanwhile, the display offered acceptable brightness of around 300 nits and very reasonable 97.8% coverage of the sRGB colour space with decent deltaE values, to boot.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the Asus TUF A16 is its battery life, which managed to reach 20 hours screen-on time in our idle battery testing and just over 12 hours in our Wi-Fi web surfing test. Meanwhile, the AMD Radeon RX 7700S manages to pull off similar, if not better, frame rates to Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4060 in comparisons, making it a stellar 1080p gaming machine at this discounted price, even at higher frame rates. The inclusion of AMD FreeSync Premium also helps smooth things over in the event of occasional frame rate dips, which is a nice bonus.
