The Acer Nitro V 15 gaming laptop is aimed at folks who want an FHD gamer with a respectable amount of power at a wallet-friendly price. For the most part, the Acer Nitro V 15 fits that description rather well. However, the compromises that Acer has made aren’t easy to swallow at full retail.
For instance, the laptop doesn't have an SD card slot and the RTX 40 GPU under the hood isn’t allowed the maximum possible TGP. However, these issues are much less annoying now that the Acer Nitro V 15 is on sale at a deep discount.
So, if you are in the market for a mid-range gaming laptop for FHD gaming, you can get the Acer Nitro V 15 for only $829.99 at B&H Photo. The new price is a big discount of $370 over the list rate.
Acer Nitro V 15 gaming laptop specifications
The Acer Nitro V 15 on sale is powered by a Raptor Lake Core i7-13620H CPU, an 80 W RTX 4060 laptop GPU, 32 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, 1 TB of Gen 4 storage, and a 15.6-inch IPS display. The display covers 100% of the sRGB gamut, has up to 300 nits of brightness, and boasts a quick 165 Hz refresh rate.
Additionally, the laptop features a backlit keyboard with a three-row numpad, Wi-Fi 6/BT 5.2, and a relatively low weight of only 2.11 kg (4.66 lbs). The exterior is rounded off by a port selection as follows:
- One Thunderbolt 4 connector
- Three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports
- A 3.5 mm combo jack
- An RJ 45 Gigabit ethernet jack
- An HDMI 2.1 out
Finally, the Acer Nitro V 15 packs a 57 Wh battery which might seem small but delivers some impressive battery life (more on this below).
Acer Nitro V 15 is an FHD gamer with long battery life
Starting with perhaps the most impressive aspect of the laptop, the Acer Nitro V 15 shows impressively low power consumption compared to many of its peers. This, combined with a 57 Wh battery, allowed our review unit equipped with an RTX 4050 to last close to 9.5 hours in our WLAN test. We also expect to see good runtimes from the unit on sale.
Moving to performance, the combination of the RTX 4060 laptop GPU and the Core i7-13620H should ensure that the Acer Nitro V 15 plays the current AAA titles at FHD with respectable graphics. Unfortunately, Acer has only allowed the Nitro V 15 an 80 W RTX 4060 instead of the usual 115 W, so performance will be limited compared to other machines with a full-power RTX 4060. However, you can always supplement the performance techniques like FSR and DLSS.
Finally, the low power consumption and reduced TGP of the GPU also have a positive impact on the thermals as our review device remained fairly cool during testing.
All in all, the Acer Nitro V 15 may not offer the best performance but the laptop makes up for it with a solid battery life, comparatively lightweight construction, cool operation, and extensive upgradability options. Suffice it to say, for a discounted price of just $829.99, the Acer Nitro V 15 gaming laptop should be on your radar.
