The Acer Nitro V 15 laptop is one of the brand’s cost-effective options aimed at gamers who want a no-frills 1080p gaming machine. The laptop achieves this by packing up to a Core i7-13620H CPU, the RTX 4060 laptop GPU, and a 165 Hz FHD display inside a chassis weighing only 2.1 kg (4.6 lbs). The machine also gets a decent port selection that includes, among others, one Thunderbolt 4 and three Type-A ports.
So, if you were on the lookout for a relatively portable 15-inch laptop for FHD gaming, the Acer Nitro V 15 is a solid option, especially now that it is on sale at B&H Photo till February 25. The retailer is offering the Acer Nitro V 15 for just $799.99 instead of the usual $1,000 list price.
Acer Nitro V 15 specs and performance
The Acer Nitro V 15 on sale at B&H Photo is an upper-end model with a Core i7-13620H CPU, an RTX 4060 laptop GPU at a max 140 TDP, 32 GB of RAM, and a 15.6-inch FHD display. The panel refreshes at a fast 165 Hz refresh rate, covers 100% sRGB, and can shoot up to 300 nits of brightness.
The only disappointing thing about the Acer Nitro V 15 on sale is the limited 512 GB of storage. Thankfully, the laptop features an empty M.2 slot on the inside. So, you can upgrade the storage rather cheaply using a 1 TB SSD from Amazon.
So, how does the Acer Nitro V 15 actually perform?
The combination of the Core i7-13620H and the 140 W RTX 4060 is enough for FHD gaming. For instance, the RTX 4060 can play graphically intensive titles such as Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Final Fantasy XVI above 50 FPS at 1080p resolution with high/ultra settings.
Additionally, our review of the Acer Nitro V 15 with an RTX 4050 proved the laptop can sustain its performance for a long time without thermal throttling. However, this comes at the cost of loud fan noise.
Finally, a 57 Wh battery allows the laptop to last a good while on a single charge. We measured more than 9 hours of WLAN usage at 150 nits.
In the end, if you want an FHD gaming laptop but don’t want to wait till April for the RTX 5060 machines to drop, the Acer Nitro V 15 is a pretty good value right now.
