The Xiaomi 12 may only be a few weeks from debuting, but Xiaomi is yet to start teasing the flagship. Nonetheless, Digital Chat Station is on hand again to offer insights into what to expect from the Mi 11 successor. Reputedly, Xiaomi will announce the Xiaomi 12 on December 16 in China. The Xiaomi 12X is in the picture too, but it remains unclear when the Xiaomi 12 series will make its way outside China.
According to Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 12 will persist with Xiaomi's preferred triple camera set up. While the leaker refers to the Redmi K30S as an example of this camera arrangement, the Mi 11 has three rear-facing cameras, as well. Hence, Digital Chat Station tips the Xiaomi 12 to arrive with an impressive primary camera, supported by ultra-wide-angle and macro sensors.
Sadly, this means that the Xiaomi 12 will miss out on a telephoto or a periscope camera, a feature available on other Xiaomi flagships like the Mi 11 Ultra. By contrast, the MIX 5 and MIX 5 Pro are thought to feature high megapixel cameras across the board. Still, the Xiaomi 12 is believed to rely on a 50 MP primary camera, likely the Samsung ISOCELL GN1 or the Sony IMX700.
Either way, the Xiaomi 12 could be one of only a few flagship smartphones that Xiaomi plans to release outside China. Reportedly, neither the MIX 5 nor the MIX 5 Pro will be launched globally, potentially leaving the Xiaomi 12 as the company's sole flagship representative for early 2022.
