Redmi has just announced that its first 64MP camera phone will be the Note 8 Pro. It will launch alongside a second, plain Note 8 variant in China in 8 days from now (or on August 29, 2019). It will be joined on stage by a 70-inch TV, which is thought to be a smart screen and to have a 4K resolution.
Therefore, it appears this Xiaomi sub-brand is going up against other OEMs such as Honor and OnePlus as they too make an attempt to break into the TV space this year. Then again, Redmi may have more of an advantage here, as its parent company has a prior history of producing TVs, many of which also have apps and UIs.
The Note 8 series will be interesting too, and not merely due to their quad cameras that may be particularly powerful in one variant. It will have to do very well to beat its predecessor's performance, which is in part what solidified Redmi's status as a smartphone name in its own right.
Furthermore, there is a chance they may differ in terms of looks as well as specs. The Note 8 Pro and its central camera alignment is clearly shown in an official teaser. The Note 8, on the other hand, may have been caught in a leak that indicates its own line of lenses is set off into one corner, and also has a gradient finish to its rear panel.
