The Redmi K20 Pro is going to gain new variants powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus processor soon. These refreshed units will also have up to 12GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage and a new rear panel. They will be released in China on September 23, 2019.

The Redmi K20 Pro attracted a great deal of attention at its launch earlier this year, not least as it and its K20 sibling appears to have supplanted the Pocophone line at Xiaomi. Their attractive 'flame-style' rear panel and pop-up camera also put it right on trend in 2019. As the variant with a top-end Snapdragon 855 processor, the K20 Pro may have been the more coveted, however. Now, its maker has unveiled an even more powerful refresh for this device.

The "Redmi K20 Pro Premium Edition" will see an upgrade to the Snapdragon 855 Plus, which is itself an 855 refresh with improved GPU specs. Its introduction also confirms a prior leak suggesting that units of this phone with up to 12GB of RAM were to be produced. The K20 Pro Premium will also offer up to 512GB in fixed storage.

Redmi has also teased the K20 Pro Premium with a shot of its back panel. Its mostly black finish has a design similar to the Marvel Studios' Avengers-themed special edition of this phone. The Weibo post also hints at MIUI 11 - based on Android 10 - out of the box. However, it appears that this phone may be a Chinese-market exclusive. Perhaps the rest of us can hold out hope that the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro gets the same treatment at some point.
