JD.com, the largest retailer in China, established an annual "618 Festival" a few years ago to counter Alibaba's popular Singles Day, which the latter runs on November 11. All large Chinese retailers now use these dates as an excuse to run sales campaigns to attract customers, much like retailers in Europe and North America do with Black Friday sales.
Xiaomi appears to have incredibly well out of the former, claiming that it sold over 100,000 Mi TV 4 devices in only 9 minutes courtesy of the so-called "618 Festival". Specifically, the Chinese company has been offering the Mi TV 4A, a 32-inch and 1,366 x 768 smart TV, for 699 CNY. This currently converts to around US$102 or £80 and represents a reduction of 200 CNY (~US29/~£23).
Likewise, it cut the price of its 65-inch Mi TV 4C from 3,699 CNY (~US$540/~£425) to 2,599 CNY (~US$379/~£299), a saving of 1,100 CNY (~US$161/~£126). The 4K set weighs just over 16.5 kg and includes 2x 8 W speakers along with 3 HDMI ports and Dolby Audio support. It is also cut its 50-inch Mi TV 4A, a 4K and HDR set, from 2,099 CNY (~US$306/~£241) to 1,399 CNY (~US$204/~£161), a saving of 700 CNY (~US$145/~£115). With Xiaomi gradually branching out into different regions, we suspect it is only a matter of time before the company sells its TVs in different regions. The company even showcases a Mi TV at its Westfield store in London but has yet to bring its Mi TV to the UK.
