Not long ago, the OEM Xiaomi announced that its Global Beta Program would become restricted to the more recent and better-spec'd of its mobile devices. This program offers users of this OS worldwide the opportunity to download 'preview' versions of the company's Android skin, MIUI. These global betas may contain new features, the fate of which users can (ideally) influence by sending feedback to their developers.
However, Xiaomi has recently amended this decision, in that it now applies to all phones and tablets previously included in the MIUI Global Beta Program. The OEM claims that it is taking this step in accordance with the direction that it is taking as a phone manufacturer in the future. In addition, it claims that this will enhance stability for its non-beta software going forward.
Therefore, MIUI fans with a large range of devices will see their last Global Beta ROM by July 1 2019. Xiaomi appears confident that it can maintain its current level of engagement with users after this date. It has also stated that other updates, such as the release of security patches, will continue to reach all applicable users "in a timely manner".
