One of Xiaomi's new CC phones teased in Weibo video
Xiaomi is set to reveal not merely a new phone, but a whole new brand, at its next major launch event. According to an introductory social media post by the company's CEO, Lei Jun, it is to be called CC, and has been set up in partnership with the former OEM Meitu. CC has apparently been instituted to appeal to younger smartphone fans.
Its first device unveiliing is now rumored to take place in July 2019. Ahead of this, Xiaomi has released a video onto Weibo that apparently gives a little more insight into the new product line. It appears to show someone in a CC T-shirt crashing a photo shoot in which a viral star is recording a promotion for a new device.
The rest of the video shows these individuals handling a phone - however, only the front panel is shown; any other device shots are obscured by a sticker strategically placed over the relevant areas. Therefore, this teaser could concern the CC9, which is projected to have a Zenfone 6-esque flip-up camera. However, assuming the current leaks around the CC phones are accurate, it could also be the CC9e, which looks much like the Mi 9 before it.
