Less than six months have passed since DJI supplemented the Osmo Action 4 with the Osmo Action 5 Pro (curr. $343 on Amazon). Nonetheless, there has already been evidence that a sixth-generation model is in development. The new model is anticipated to replace the Osmo Action 4 though, not the Osmo Action 5 Pro that debuted in September.
To that end, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certified the Osmo Action 6 for sale in the US last month. Now, a photo that could be the first look at the unreleased action camera's retail packaging has surfaced online. Recirculated by @hakasushi on X, the packaging mirrors those of recent Osmo Action generations.
As far as we can tell, the viewfinder image shown is not found in any Osmo Action 4 or Osmo Action 5 Pro packaging. The image also suggests that the Osmo Action 6 has a 1/1.3-inch camera with a 155-degree field of view (FoV), which is in line with expectations. DJI also typically prints aperture figures to one decimal place on its action camera lens housings, which is missing in this photo.
Hence, this could be a sign that the image has been tampered with in one way or another. If that is the case, then it would be a relatively convincing fake. As a result, we would take this leak with a healthy amount of scepticism for the time being until more verifiable information arrives.
