Insta360: New Ace Pro 2 action camera to launch with new camera hardware to rival recent GoPro and DJI releases
The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 has been a long time coming. While rivals DJI and GoPro unveiled new action cameras over the summer, Insta360 has been quiet on plans for its action camera division. Surprisingly, this has remained true even after countless leaks emerged throughout August and September.
With DJI set to unveil a new drone in a new day's time, leaker Igor Bogdanov has returned to sharing previously unseen images of Insta360's long-awaited action camera, as well as a few additional specifications to boot. Embedded below, the imagery appears to be that which Insta360 and its retail partners planned to use as promotional material.
Consequently, various hardware highlights can be seen, including a 157-degree field of view (FoV) and a new 1/1.3-inch camera sensor. Moreover, the Ace Pro 2 will sport revised microphone hardware, which appears to be aided by Insta360's new '5 nm AI chip'. Meanwhile, the latter will be complemented by a somewhat vague 'Pro Imaging Chip'. Currently, it remains to be seen when the Ace Pro 2 will be ready to rival the Hero 13 Black or Osmo Action 5 Pro (curr. $379 on Amazon). However, the appearance of all this promotional material implies that an official launch is close.
