DJI: Details about new innovative RC Track drone controller leak before rumoured release
DJI is only a few days away from releasing another new product, which will arrive hot on the heels of the Osmo Action 5 Pro and the Neo (curr. $199 on Amazon). Based on recent leaks, the company intends to introduce another new consumer drone, albeit not the long-awaited Mavic 4. Instead, it seems that DJI has the Air series in its sights.
Specifically, the company appears set to expand the Air series with the Air 3S, which will not only supersede last year's Air 3 but also the older Air 2S. While the Air 3S is said to contain camera and battery camera upgrades over both those drones, DJI has another upgrade in store by way of a new accessory. Although the Air 3S' launch is not until next week, Jasper Ellens has shared new details about this new accessory, which is believed to be called the RC Track.
According to the leaker, the RC Track will connect to the Air 3S through the DJI Fly app, which will provide an in-flight image preview. Allegedly, the accessory will be capable of tracking the drone above 50 km/h too; a 100-metre range will be somewhat limiting in this regard, though. In a series of tweets, Ellens adds that the RC Track will support return-to-home (RTH) functionality, as well as takeoff, tracking and voice prompt features. Reportedly, the RC Track should eventually be compatible with the Mini 4 Pro as well; full compatibility and pricing remain unknown at this stage, though.
