DJI Mavic 4: Leak reveals major battery upgrade over Mavic 3 Pro for new flagship drone
It is no secret that DJI is preparing to release the Air 3S, having already introduced the Neo (curr. $199.99 on Amazon) over the summer. However, fresh evidence suggests that DJI is also working to deliver a new generation of Mavic drones.
To recap, the Mavic 4 has been pictured a few times in the last couple of months. DJI has not officially confirmed anything yet, though. With that being said, it now appears that the company has submitted the same drone to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Unfortunately, none of the regulatory body's documents mention the Mavic 4 by name.
Instead, DJI has attempted to obfuscate what device it has in the works by including model numbers not retail names. Nonetheless, the FCC has confirmed that 'JV31' and 'JV32' are the same device, which also resembles a drone in one drawing. Presumably, these are 'Cine' and 'Pro' versions of the Mavic 4, which leaker Jasper Ellens suggests.
Added to that, the FCC has revealed that the Mavic 4 could feature a significantly larger battery than the Mavic 3 or Mavic 3 Pro. Based on the first image below, 'JV31' and 'JV32' both contain 99.5 Wh batteries (14.76V/6,471 mAh). Thus, we can reasonably expect the Mavic 4 to offer superior flight times than the Mavic 3 or Mavic 3 Pro, which top out at 46 minutes and 43 minutes, respectively, from a 77 Wh (15.4V/5,000 mAh) battery.
