Zero Zero Robotics touts its HOVERAir drones as a potentially superior alternative to action cameras on selfie sticks, not least due to their pocket-friendly design. The series' first-ever 8K-capable variant is now available via a crowdfunding campaign that has already far exceeded its goal despite having only just launched.

Zero Zero Robotics asserts that 8K "Takes Flight" today (August 26, 2024) with the launch of the HOVERAir X1 PRO and PROMAX, although that top-end spec is only available in the latter.

Then again, both drones have the same innovative design as their predecessor, rated to allow them to track and record the user at up to 26 miles per hour (mph, or ~42 kilometers per hour (km/h)), even though they can also be folded to fit in a pocket.

They also support SmoothCapture 2.0 electronic image stabilization (EIS) and the "upgraded" ability to plan and map its trajectory using AI thanks to a new on-board NPU touted as "15x" more powerful than its predecessor in the original X1.

The new drones are now available to order, albeit as Indiegogo perks starting at $399 for the 4K/60fps X1 PRO, or $599 for the up-to-8K (or 4K/120fps) PROMAX.

The campaign has already accrued nearly $405,000 worth of backing, or just over 8 times its original $50,000 goal, despite having 36 days left to run.

Meanwhile, the original HOVERAir X1 is available on Amazon for $399.
