Just yesterday, Canon announced that it would be renewing its focus on compact, fixed-lens cameras, like the PowerShot G7 X III to compete with the popular Sony ZV-1 and RX100 V (curr. $999.99 at Best Buy). In so doing, Canon was essentially committing to increasing production, but new rumours confirm that the camera maker was also implying that it would be producing more models in the compact PowerShot range.
According to the rumours shared by CanonRumors, Canon will be expanding and refreshing its PowerShot V line-up, which last year saw the launch of the peculiar, but affordable $429.99 PowerShot V10 vlogging camera. This refresh will see the launch of a new video-focussed fixed-lens compact camera with a more traditional form factor.
Allegedly, this launch will follow the discontinuation of the current PowerShot G7 X III and PowerShot SX70 HS in the first half of 2025. Replacing the outgoing cameras will be the PowerShot V1, which, following Canon's traditional naming scheme, would be a flagship-tier compact camera.
Along with a rumoured launch date around the end of Q1 2025, CanonRumors also shared alleged specifications for the new video camera.
Canon PowerShot V1 specifications

This also isn't the only new Canon camera coming, with another pocketable, compact APS-C camera supposedly coming around the middle of 2025 to take on the likes of the Nikon Z fc (curr. $956.65 on Amazon), Fujifilm X100VI, and upcoming OM-3 from OM System.
