Samsung is unlikely to officially replace the Galaxy Z Fold6 for another month or so. Nonetheless, the company has stepped up its teaser campaign with a second short clip of what it implies is the Galaxy Z Fold7.
To recap, the company announced last week that this year's Galaxy Z Fold would offer an 'Ultra experience', the likes of which has seemingly escaped the Galaxy Z Fold series previously. Arguably, it has now pushed the hyperbole even further by teasing that its next Galaxy Z Fold will be the 'thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet'.
Apparently a milestone achievement, it seems that Samsung is comparing the Galaxy Z Fold7 against the rest of the foldable market rather than the Galaxy Z Fold6 or Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Thus, it looks like Samsung is planning on undercutting Oppo and the Find N5 when it comes to device thickness, despite apparently opting for the more powerful 8-core Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset.
That claim alone would see Samsung shaving off at least 1.7 mm from the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition when closed and 3.2 mm or over 25% compared to the Galaxy Z Fold6 (curr. $1,199 - renewed on Amazon). Samsung must overcome the Vivo X Fold5 to achieve the crown of being the lightest foldable, too. While the latter's weight remains unknown for now, Vivo has already demonstrated that the X Fold5 is lighter than the X Fold3, the current market leader at 219 g. Whether the Galaxy Z Fold7 surpasses the Honor Magic V5 in both these regards remains to be seen at this point, though.
