Vivo has now revealed when it will be releasing its next foldable, albeit in China. As is often the case with the company, it continues to share tidbits about its forthcoming device ahead of its full unveiling. For instance, Vivo hinted earlier this week that the X Fold5 would surpass even the X Fold3 Pro when it comes to its telephoto capabilities.
Despite the X Fold5 not being available for almost another fortnight, Vivo has decided to publish a slew of new promotional material on Weibo today. On the one hand, it has authorised executives to share a short video in which they discuss various aspects of the X Fold5, including its weight and upgraded telephoto camera. On the other hand, we have managed to glean more information from a fresh batch of photos.
For instance, it seems that Vivo's new telephoto camera combines a 50 MP native output with an f/2.55 aperture and a 70 mm equivalent focal length. Therefore, while the X Fold5's telephoto camera provides fewer megapixels with the same 3x optical zoom as the X Fold3 Pro's, it also offers a wider aperture compared to f/2.57 in the case of the X Fold3 Pro.
Likewise, Vivo's latest photos confirm that the X Fold5 also has an f/1.57 primary camera in another upgrade from the f/1.68 aperture found on the X Fold3 Pro. Meanwhile, Vivo will maintain a 15 mm ultra-wide-angle for another generation. At this stage, it remains to be seen whether Vivo will bring across the 50 MP, 1/2.76-inch and 119-degree FoV sensor from its X Fold3 generation.
Regardless, Vivo has also reiterated that the X Fold5 will feature an 'equivalent 6,000 mAh battery, a sub-219 g weight and extensive Apple ecosystem integration. On the latter, the company has clarified that the X Fold5 will support Apple Watch smartwatches, AirPods (curr. $99.99 on Amazon), macOS interconnection and even iCloud. On top of that, the foldable will leverage the iPhone's call, message and notification flow, too. Given that the X Fold5 is not due to officially arrive until June 25, we suspect Vivo will reveal more details about the device in the coming days.
