The Honor Magic V5 could soon be joining the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Vivo X Fold5 in a shake up of the foldable market. Allegedly set to combine a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with a circa-6,000 mAh battery that supports 80 W wired charging, the Honor Magic V5 is also now expected to outshine its peers with a dazzling Silk Gold colourway.

Vivo has just confirmed that its next foldable will be launching before the month is out with a whole series of improvements over last year's X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro. Among them are a new set of colour options, which also appear to eschew the textured finishes in which prior X Fold generations were available.

By all accounts, the Honor Magic V5 will not be far behind either. For the time being, Honor has already suggested that its Magic V3 successor will be ready before the summer. Ultimately, the lack of teasers and proximity to summer 2025 effectively confirms that the Magic V5 will arrive after Vivo unveils the X Fold5 on June 25. To that end, the Magic V5 was recently spotted matching the Oppo Find N5 when it comes to wired charging capabilities.

Now, a well-regarded Weibo leaker has delivered a few insights into the colour options that Honor has planned for its next foldable. Like the X Fold5, the Magic V5 is expected to bring new finishes to the table, including a Silk Gold variant. Inferred as a 'shiny gold' finish, Silk Gold is believed to be joined by the Velvet Black, Tundra Green and Snow White options in which the Magic V3 is available.

In other words, Silk Gold will replace last year's Reddish Brown option, which Honor adorned with gold across its frame and camera housing. Currently, the Magic V5 is anticipated to combine a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with batteries whose combined capacity should surpass all current foldables like the Magic V3, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (curr. $1,499 on Amazon). Dates for a global release remain unknown at this stage, though.
