Samsung Galaxy S24 series camera sensor rumors turn up despite endangered S24+ as leaker also offers early Galaxy S25 camera prediction

The known tipster Revegnus has been sharing some recent rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, which is still far away in terms of release (likely first quarter 2024). The leaker has been discussing the camera sensors for each of the three phones that will make up the Galaxy S24 lineup, with the flagship specimen, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, apparently getting the HP2 sensor for its main camera. This would be no surprise anyway, as it is a relatively new and very modern camera sensor, with the Samsung S5KHP2 having already brought the famous 200 MP resolution level to the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

However, while you might expect the Galaxy S24 Ultra to get the same main camera sensor as its predecessor, some might hope for upgrades for the less-premium models. But the same source claims that the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ will sport ISOCELL GN3 units. The Samsung S5KGN3 is found in both the Galaxy S23 and S23+, and in our reviews we found the camera system to be an excellent performer. But there have been some comments to this leak that clearly show not everyone is content at the idea of the Galaxy S24 and S24+ not receiving a camera boost to HP2. In addition, Revegnus doesn’t seem sure if there will even be a Plus-size model, which is something that has been reported before.

But while the Samsung Galaxy S24 offering might be pretty much more of the same but with better camera software and faster processors, it appears there could be something special planned for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series (again, likely first quarter 2025). The tipster has predicted that Samsung might team up with Sony for the S25 camera sensor, using an IMX890 unit that could even end up being called something like “IMX890 for Galaxy”. The Sony IMX754 sensor can be found in all three members of the Galaxy S23 series, so the idea of Samsung working alongside Sony again for the S25 lineup is far from outlandish. Another tipster, RGcloudS, is convinced that Samsung will have some special new sensors to reveal in 2025.
