These are the fastest and slowest GeForce RTX 4090 laptops you can now buy
Last year's GeForce RTX 30 Ti series didn't offer all that much in the world of gaming laptops. When compared to their respective non Ti counterparts, the mobile RTX 3070 Ti or mobile 3080 Ti were only about 10 percent faster at best. This year's new mobile RTX 4090 brings a much bigger leap in performance and there are now at least 17 different gaming laptops to choose from equipped with the Ada Lovelace GPU. However, which one should you choose if you want the fastest version?
According to our 3DMark results below, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 G733PY, Schenker XMG Neo 16 E23, MSI Titan GT77 HX, and Alienware m18 R1 are our top picks for gamers who want to squeeze as much performance as they can from the mobile RTX 4090. The Eluktronics Mech-17 GP2 qualifies as well and it is easily the more portable option of the bunch, but only when its optional external liquid cooling box is attached or else graphics performance drops.
On the other end of the spectrum, enthusiasts may want to avoid the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 or Asus ROG Flow Z13 as the RTX 4090 GPUs in these particular models can be about 15 to 20 percent slower than the fastest models mentioned above. The data makes sense as the Zephyrus M16 and ROG Flow Z13 are each thinner and smaller relative to other gaming laptops with the same RTX 4090. Whereas the bigger models target 175 W GPUs, these two Asus models target 150 W or even as low as 80 W.
We're still impressed by the performance consistency across all RTX 4090 laptops thus far. Even the slowest RTX 4090 model at the moment is able to offer a significant boost over any RTX 3080 Ti laptop. We'll be updating this page as more RTX 4090 laptop options become available for purchase.
