Polar launches new mid-range Vantage M3 GPS smartwatch with ECG
Polar has launched the Vantage M3 smartwatch, designed for multi-sport athletes. This is a new mid-range model from the brand that offers various upgrades over the Vantage M2. For example, the M3 has a 1.28-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, which is part of Polar’s wider move away from MIP watch faces.
This AMOLED display has a 325 ppi pixel density, a peak brightness level of 1,500 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass. Another upgrade for the Vantage M3 can be found with the optical heart rate sensor, with the fourth generation element used in this new watch. With it comes additional health tracking features to monitor blood oxygen level and skin temperature, and the ability to take ECG, though atrial fibrillation detection is not supported. As with other models, you can use the watch to track over 150 sports, with new features like Hill Splitter, Walking/Running/Cycling Test and Vertical Speed measurements.
Also added are dual-band GPS, with accompanying offline color maps, and visual or audio turn-by-turn guidance. Like its predecessor, the wearable is said to last for up to seven days in smartwatch mode or up to 30 hours in GPS mode. It recharges via USB-C, and the battery can be replaced. On top of this, the watch is waterproof up to 50 m (~164 ft) and comes with 32 GB storage. The Polar Vantage M3 is available in Night Black or Greige Sand, retailing for $399/£349/€399. While the model is listed on Amazon and available to purchase, it is temporarily out of stock.
