Garmin Forerunner 965 receives meditation and new swimming features with latest update
Garmin has shared details about a new beta update for the Forerunner 965 (curr. $599 on Amazon), which remains the company's premier Forerunner smartwatch 18 months after its initial release. For context, the company finished up its 20.xx beta development cycle in September.
With that being said, it continued to issue new 20.xx stable builds throughout this month aimed at resolving several outstanding bugs. By contrast, Public Beta Version 21.14 is said to make thirteen changes of one kind or another, including the addition of a new meditation activity. Moreover, the new beta builds introduces associated meditation videos and a Moon Phase glance too.
On top of that, Garmin claims to have improved the pool swim workout. Reportedly, the new update adds a critical swim speed metric, as well as pace alerts and refines in-activity alert tones. Furthermore, the Forerunner 965 should automatically apply Lactate Threshold estimates after training with heart rate monitoring enabled. Similarly, Public Beta Version 21.14 will estimate Function Threshold Power levels after training with power. Please see the screenshot below or Garmin's forum post for the list of bug fixes that the Forerunner 965's new update also includes.
