Garmin rushes out new update for recent high-end smartwatches with system crash fix
Roughly a fortnight has passed since Garmin issued a new stable update for the Enduro 3, Fenix E and Fenix 8 (curr. $1,089.99 on Amazon). To recap, System Software 11.89 contained fifty changes, of which about a dozen were new features. However, it seems as though the company failed to address a significant issue that may have been present in prior builds.
Ultimately, it has not acknowledged that this is the case. Instead, it started distributing Beta Version 11.90 yesterday to Enduro 3, Fenix E and Fenix 8 smartwatches enrolled on its Beta Program with a single change. Seemingly, System Software 11.89 contained a flaw that could have caused a 'possible crash on boot', which Beta Version 11.90 seeks to rectify.
As a general rule, Garmin waits at least a few days before transitioning a beta update to its stable software branch. In short, this should allow the company enough time to receive feedback about any other bugs that could prevent a stable rollout. Surprisingly, v11.90 has already reached stable status, with Garmin adding that it has offered System Software 11.90 to at least 25% of eligible smartwatches by now. Incidentally, a completely different beta update for the same set of devices has also been published today with a frankly ridiculous amount of changes from System Software 11.90.
