Xiaomi has updated its Smart Band range just over two months after introducing the Smart Band 9 globally (curr. $53.50 on Amazon). As expected, the new model in question is the Smart Band 9 Pro, which joins the Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 15 Pro and the Pad 7 series in China today.
In short, Xiaomi continues to market the Smart Band series as an affordable alternative to smartwatches. However, the Smart Band 9 Pro closely resembles a regular smartwatch thanks to a rectangular AMOLED display that measures 1.74-inches across. For context, while the display outputs at 60 Hz, its 1,200 nit peak brightness is twice that of the Smart Band 8 Pro.
Moreover, the Smart Band 9 Pro has an aluminium housing that is 10.8 mm thick, weighs 24.5 g and is 5 ATM water resistant. On top of that, Xiaomi's new fitness tracker boasts up to 21 days of battery life thanks to the company's lightweight and proprietary operating system (OS). Furthermore, the Smart Band 9 Pro is said to come with over 150 sports modes, as well as GPS and NFC modules for activity tracking and contactless payments, respectively.
Currently, the Smart Band 9 Pro is exclusive to China, where it comes in multiple colour options and band types. For reference, the wearable starts at CNY 399 (~$56) in Xiaomi's home market and rises to CNY 449 (~$63) with a leather strap. Although international availability remains unknown at this stage, we suspect it will reach other countries in a few months or so.
