Garmin launches new smartwatch with an interesting design, high-quality materials and numerous functions
Garmin is offering its second-generation MARQ Adventurer in a new variant, namely the Damascus Steel Edition. The model is priced at a hefty $3,100, so customers are paying a high surcharge for the choice of material. Damascus steel is said to be extremely robust and is used for both the case and the bezel. The smartwatch is supplied with a leather and fluorocarbon rubber hybrid strap, while the display is protected by sapphire crystal. Water-resistance is advertised up to a depth of 10 ATM.
The AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 390 measures 1.2 inches diagonally and is a touch screen. The range of functions is extensive and comparable with the Fenix models. The internal memory can store not only training sessions, but also music and maps. Other features include a GNSS module with GPS, Glonass and Galileo support, a compass, barometric altimeter, a gyroscope and a thermometer. The latter feature allows for the monitoring of body or ambient temperature.
Garmin Connect allows for the analysis of training data, comprehensive evaluations of performance status and adjustment of workout plans to the training load. Optical sensors enable the measurement of heart rate, blood oxygen saturation and stress levels. Wireless payment can be made directly with the watch via Garmin Pay. Last but not least, the watch's range of functions can be further expanded with apps.
