Less than a fortnight has passed since popular Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu ceased operations. In summary, not only did Yuzu shut down, but the developers behind the emulator also agreed to pay Nintendo $2.4 million in damages and hand over all Yuzu-related intellectual property. The same applied to Citra as well, a Nintendo 3DS emulator also developed by Tropic Haze.
Nonetheless, Yuzu has already returned, albeit in a different guise as 'Suyu'. Perhaps coincidentally pronounced as 'Sue you' in English, the new emulator is billed as:
suyu, pronounced "sue-you" (wink wink) is the continuation of the world's most popular, open-source, Nintendo Switch emulator, yuzu.
It is written in C++ with portability in mind, and we actively maintain builds for Windows, Linux and Android.
Despite the tongue-in-cheek description, Suyu's developers are taking steps to prevent Nintendo from taking legal action against them. For example, one developer informed Ars Technica that users must 'provide their own title.keys, prod.keys, and firmware from their Switch console'. With that being said, the same developer admitted 'there isn't really a way to verify the keys were dumped legitimately from the user's Switch'.
Currently, the Suyu's developers have published the emulator's source code, which can be downloaded from its GitLab page. Accordingly, there are Linux and Windows wikis building the Suyu app. However, there are plans to release a fully compiled Suyu app eventually. Please see the Suyu Discord page for more information.
