Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series: GB203 and GB205 GPUs rumoured to feature the same bus width as AD103 and AD104
X leaker @Kopite7kimi stated earlier the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090's GB202 GPU would feature a 512-bit bus. That, in tandem with GDDR7 memory, could result in some interesting configurations. Conflicting reports said it could feature anywhere between 32 GB and 36 GB of video memory. Unfortunately, its siblings, the GeForce RTX 5080 and lower, might not get a corresponding VRAM bump.
If Nvidia follows Ada Lovelace's footsteps, the GB203 GPU will power the GeForce RTX 5080. Kopite7kimi says it will stick with a 256-bit bus, the same as the GeForce RTX 4080's (curr. $1,240 on Amazon) AD103 GPU. Therefore, it would be reasonable to assume the GeForce RTX 5080 will launch with 16 GB VRAM. An earlier post from the leaker confirmed the GB203 would be half of the GB202, meaning the uncut die could pack 96 SMs (vs. 192).
Unfortunately, there's no word about the next GPU in line, the GB204. On the other hand, the GB205's bus width is 192-bit. It could power the GeForce RTX 5070 or even the RTX 5060. Regardless, the model in question will be stuck with 12 GB VRAM. Leaks about Nvidia's Ada Lovelace GPUs started gaining traction in June 2022, around when it tapes out. Ideally, we should get more tidbits about the GeForce RTX 50 Blackwell GPUs at that time.
