Another Rocket Lake-S processor has shown up on Geekbench in the form of the 6-core, 12-thread Intel Core i5-11500. The sample produced a surprisingly good result that nipped past a recent i7-11700K single-core test score. The i5-11500 reached a maximum frequency of 4.57 GHz and offered excellent gains over the i5-10400F.

Intel to produce most of the 7 nm CPUs releasing in 2023 on its own "fixed" nodes, some parts will still be outsourced

Previous rumors were reporting that Intel may start outsourcing for some 10 nm and 7 nm CPUs in the next few years, but the latest financial report suggests that the company will not rely too much on external fabs. Apparently, Intel managed to fix its 7 nm nodes and will produce most of the 2023 CPU in its own fabs, while the 10 nm nodes should become fully working this year with quadrupled supply unit growth.

The Sony Xperia Pro edges closer to release with the publication of US firmware

Sony is on the verge of releasing the Xperia PRO, according to the publication of firmware for the device in the US. Sony announced the smartphone eleven months ago with HDMI, 5G mmWave and 5G Sub-6 connectivity, and a Snapdragon 865 chipset. The Xperia PRO will probably only be available in the US, though.

The Acer Nitro 5 is available to pre-order with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 for €1,799; Intel versions orderable too

The new Acer Nitro 5 is already to pre-order, months before its expected arrival. Retailers are offering the 15.6-inch edition with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, but Ryzen 9 5900HX SKUs should eventually be available. Acer has released Intel versions of the new Nitro 5, too.

A new Bloomberg report points to 2022 for the unveiling of Apple’s first VR headset. As with most things Apple, however, the pricing is going to be on the upper end of what many will be willing to pay.

Intel Core i9-11900K produces an ominous Geekbench single-core result that takes the i9-10900K by +32% and leaves the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and Ryzen 9 5950X out of sight

A sample of the Intel Core i9-11900K has finally been unearthed on Geekbench and the Rocket Lake-S chip has produced a gigantic single-core score. Utilizing a Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Master board enabled the i9-11900K to score over +32% higher than the i9-10900K and leave the Ryzen 9 5950X and Ryzen 7 5800X playing catch up.

AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS hits 4.8 GHz inside an Asus ROG Flow X13 laptop as Geekbench single-core scores shine against the Ryzen 9 4900H and Intel Core i7-1165G7

The Asus ROG Flow X13 GV301 laptop in combination with an AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS APU has been spotted in a couple of test runs on Geekbench. The Ryzen 9 5980HS produced strong single-core and multi-core results that hold up well against the Ryzen 9 4900H and Intel Core i7-1165G7. At one point, the Zen 3 chip was measured reaching 4.789 GHz.
