Rumor | The Dimensity 810 SoC will debut in a new(-ish) Realme phone

Realme is now tipped to launch a phone called the 8s soon. It is painted as a refresh for the pre-existing 8 5G, albeit with a heretofore-unheard of MediaTek Dimensity 810 processor. Therefore, it might still have up-to-date connectivity with a 90Hz display and a generous 5,000mAh battery.

Mid-year refreshes of pre-existing Android smartphones have become such a prominent trend over the last few years that Realme is now said to be preparing one for a certain mid-ranger. This is the 8 5G that is sold in Europe and India, and is now slated to get a new S-variant with minimal changes besides its alleged new SoC.

This, presuming some leaker's source has not made a significant typo at some point, is to be the Dimensity 810, which might prove to be an update over the 700 of the current Realme 8 5G. Otherwise, it and its new replacement are said to look much alike.

The 8s is touted by OnLeaks to have the same 6.5-inch 90Hz LCD display and battery as the 8. It might also come with the same Stickebrick-like rear camera hump, although only 3 of its 4 apertures might be filled with active lenses, 1 of which might be for a 64MP sensor as opposed to the 48MP shooter of the 8 5G.

Otherwise, new renders of the putative phone suggest it will have a new colorway: a lilac purple in place of the blue or black of its alleged template. Finally, it is slated to have 6GB or 8GB SKUs, even though the 8 has a 4GB option. Its price remains unguessed-at, although it might be set at the ~INR 14,999 (~US$215) mark in its possible target market of India.
