Nano Play: New gaming handheld presented with AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme and 165 Hz display for US$499 starting price
It appears that another company is hoping to capitalise on the burgeoning gaming handheld market. Recently, recognised companies like ASUS and Lenovo recently joined the party with the ROG Ally and Legion Go, respectively. However, new companies also seem keen to release their own high-end alternatives, the latest of which being Nano Play.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, Nano Play's first gaming handheld resembles many others, with a 7-inch display sandwiched between gamepad controls. Additionally, the Nano Play is said to rely on the Ryzen Z1 Extreme, a Zen 4 and RDNA 3-based APU already found in the ROG Ally and Legion Go. For reference, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme is a tweaked version of the Ryzen 7 7840U with 8 CPU cores and a Radeon 780M iGPU.
Allegedly, Nano Play has paired the Ryzen Z1 Extreme with a 165 Hz display and a 48 Wh battery within a 260 x 105 x 31 mm housing that weighs approximately 700 g. On its website, the company explains that the Nano Play will be available from US$499 through Kickstarter. Nano Play has not revealed a release date yet, but you can sign up to receive more information about the gaming handheld on the company's Kickstarter page.
