AOC CU34G3X: New 1500R curved VA gaming monitor presented with factory colour calibration and 4,000:1 contrast ratio
AOC has introduced the CU34G3X in China, seemingly a curved version of the U34G3X. Also, it appears that the CU34G3X is a follow-up to the CU34G2X that the company released over two years ago. As such, the CU34G3X is a curved gaming monitor that measures 34-inches across with a 21:9 aspect ratio.
According to AOC's product listing, the CU34G3X relies on a VA panel that operates at 3,440 x 1,440 pixels with a 180 Hz peak refresh rate. Being a VA panel, the CU34G3X also has a high contrast ratio, which AOC rates at up to 4,000:1. Additionally, the 1500R panel has 1 ms GtG response times and mitigates image tearing via AMD FreeSync technology.
Moreover, the monitor is said to cover 93% and 99% of the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces while maintaining up to 300 nits brightness. Unfortunately, the latter means that the CU34G3X cannot get bright enough to do HDR content justice. Still, AOC states that it factory calibrates the monitor to Delta E deviations of less than 2 in relation to the sRGB colour space.
Furthermore, the monitor has pairs of DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 ports, as well as an adjustable stand and 100 x 100 mm VESA mounts. For now, AOC has only launched the CU34G3X in China, where it retails for CNY 2,999 (~US$411). While the company has not confirmed global availability, it is likely to arrive under its AGON or GAMING brands if it receives a global release. Based on the AOC Q27G3XMN, it could take a month or so for the CU34G3X to be available outside China.
