Cooler Master GM34-CWQ2: New ultra-wide VA gaming monitor showcased with 1500R curvature and 180 Hz refresh rate
Cooler Master has presented the GM34-CWQ2, a follow-up to the GM34-CWQ that it unveiled in May 2022. In short, the pair share many characteristics, including a 34-inch VA panel with a 1500R curvature and a 21:9 aspect ratio. However, the GM34-CWQ2 has a higher native refresh rate that also supports overclocking.
Specifically, the GM34-CWQ2 operates natively at 165 Hz but can be pushed to 180 Hz if you want even faster visuals. Additionally, Cooler Master combines a high refresh rate with a 3,440 x 1,440-pixel resolution and 2 ms GtG response times. Thankfully, adaptive-sync support is onboard to minimise image tearing on AMD and NVIDIA-powered machines. According to TFT Central, the GM34-CWQ2 should also arrive with AMD FreeSync Premium certification.
Moreover, the GM34-CWQ2 has a 4,000:1 static contrast ratio and is said to cover 95% of the DCI-P3 colour space, 3% less than its predecessor. Likewise, peak brightness drops from 400 to 320 nits. Furthermore, the GM34-CWQ2 features the same I/O as its predecessor, which are as follows:
- 2x 5 W speakers
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 2x HDMI 2.0
- 2x USB Type-A
- 1x USB Type-C (65 W USB Power Delivery)
Currently, Cooler Master hopes to begin selling the GM34-CWQ2 in Q1 2024. While the company has not shared a full release date yet, TFT Central reports that the monitor should be available in the UK for £379 and US$419 in the US. Cooler Master has not published a product listing yet either, although we imagine it will do so in the next couple of months.
